To come closer to fulfilling this aspiration and to do it justice, Toni Sterba devoted more than a decade of exceptional work to the landart project The Pit / Die Grube — both as caretaker of the site and as a contact person and dedicated support for the artists.
Artists such as Nicole Six / Paul Petritsch, Edgar Honetschläger, Elisabeth von Samsonow, Mark Leschelier and Zenita Komad would hardly have been able to realize their often highly complex interventions without his involvement.
Toni Sterba, born on November 8, 1959, sadly passed away in Breitenbrunn on May 8, 2026.
