Antonia de la Luz Kašik
Birgit-Jürgenssen-Award-Winner 2025
Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna
Antonia de la Luz Kašik is the winner of this year's Birgit Jürgenssen Award. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in the Aula of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
Notes on visual poetry:
„It is the perception that amazes, the search for a different, unfamiliar reality. Antonia de la Luz Kasik succumbs to the allure of images, but takes this, it seems, as an opportunity not only to question and explore visual realities, but also to intervene convincingly. To intervene in our viewing habits, visual spheres and in a depicted, apparent reality. The appeal of the imaginary, the special gaze is inherent in her cinematic and sculptural work. Her commitment to experimentation and development paints her as an auspicious artist and filmmaker.“ -PN
